Days at home

Image hosting by Photobucket
Miss Emma hasn't been feeling well the last 2 days. It never ceases to amaze me though once that Motrin kicks in and the fever goes away....watch out...she's off! I am amazed at how quickly my house can look as if Hurricane Emma has hit!! She is similar to the Tasmanian Devil in some ways. She turns in circles, gets one toy out, hears music and starts to dance, then realizes that Berenstein Bears is on TV so she goes to watch that for.2 seconds, then it's off to find another toy....OY!! It makes a mama tired. Today she seems to be feeling a lot better. She likes to get her pompoms and play "cheerleader". Lord help me:) I do love to see her feeling good though!

The time has come for Miss Emma to get a "big girl bed"! We brought it home on Sunday, and we decided to completely take down the crib. The first night I DEFITINITELY thought THAT was a mistake! She cried all night long....big sobby tears...like there was an emotional attachment to the crib (I think she was over tired because she had been up too late the night before and had not napped all day! ). Last night was her 3rd night in the big bed, and she did GREAT!! Of course, she is in it now because she is a very sick little cookie. UGH!! High fever, respiratory crap!!! However, we have had a six week hiatus from being sick, so I will count my blessings. Here are a couple of pictures of THE BIG BED!!

We had just put the bed up, and she thought it was GREAT!!!

Until she had to lay down in it!! "Mama....get me out of here"! The words I imagined hearing!

She did finally go to sleep (love the positioning!). She only slept for 2 hours...then she cried and cried and cried!

Ready for the Modeling World?

Emma just got a new swimsuit, and yes it did snow the day that we got it. However, she insisted on putting it on. She LOVES it!! She runs and twirls....she is just the cutest!! I just had to share a couple of pictures. After she had it on a little while I told her we needed to change her clothes because we had to go to the store (and it was snowing). She went and grabbed her snowboots, and she tried to let me put them on WITH her swimsuit. Too cute!!

Thanks

I want to say a sincere thank you to the 3 people who responded to my last post. I was really having a rough moment, and I needed to have people respond. I cannot express how much those words meant to me. Granted, there were 25 people who have logged onto this blog since I posted my last message, and only 3 people responded....that was interesting to me. I know that it is a delicate subject, and that is the exact reason that I have kept my secret inside of me. So, to those that did not post thanks for helping me to again realize that it is not something that people want to talk to me about.

2 to teen in 20 seconds

It is amazing how our sweet little angel can go from this smiley girl who is laughing at me while I was taking her picture:

Fast forward 20 seconds...after taking her picture she insisted that I give her the camera. When I didn't get her she turned into THIS!! Look, there are even REAL tears running down her face!

Em loves ANY type of electrical device (cameras, telephones, remote controls, computers). Oh Miss Emma, I cannot wait to see what you will be like as a teen, but these brief glimpses to those teen age years are rather amusing.

At Last.....Goodbye

Before Emma had her transplant the doctors had her on many medicines and vitamins to attempt to get the liver to function. We had to hold her down and put med after med into her mouth, then turn her over so she could throw them up...and repeat. We fought with the insurance company time and time again because the prescriptions were "vitamins"..however they were vitamin A, D, E, and K that people (especially infants) do not usually have to take, AND you could not get them over the counter. I did end up winning against the insurance company, but I knew that the overall picture did not show that I was "winning"...my baby's liver was not working.

Then, the transplant came, and life became so much better. I remember seeing Emma's skin turning from the orange color it was pre-transplant to a glorious pink. When we asked if we would need the vitamins and pre-transplant meds, our GI doctor chuckled a bit and said "you might hang onto them for a while for GOOD LUCK". He said many times people threw them out right away and developed complications (surely no relation, but I am a bit superstitious...especially at this point...I will do ANYTHING to make my baby healthy). So, those meds traveled with us from room to room in the hospital, to the Ronald McDonald House, and they came home with us to be safely placed in a dark corner in my closet...where they were completely forgotten about...until today.

Yes, today was the day that I finally decided to clean out my closet (it has not thoroughly been cleaned since before Emma was born). As I got to the back of the closet I found a plastic bag that was heavy. I opened it up to find Em's pre-transplant meds!!! I had to take a picture, and then I smiled and cheered as I threw them in the dumpster! It is time to say Goodbye...AT LAST!!!!
